about

This song details the popular Ketran 'video' game Alien Civilizations, a game in which highly realistic civilizations and worlds are created and subsequently manipulated by the players, with the end goal to make the most minimal changes possible to allow the species to thrive. Some, however, play the game in a more direct manner, injecting themselves directly into the world and intruding...in this song, Toomin (gamer-name Ellimist) describes a game of Alien Civ with fellow gamer Inidar, which features the Pangabans and the Gunja Wave, describing the game from Toomin's perspective, including his perceived faults which result in many of his losses.

lyrics

Break out the display
to reveal such a minimal change
will completely revolutionize their DNA
and alter the Pangabans.
Watch, as they become selected for size
color-vision and longer-range eyes
to compete with the Carnivore Eels
Fear, as I tear a rift in the atmosphere
revealing the stars of the sky
and new worlds to the Pangaban Eyes:
Watch, as the temporal field passes by
ten-thousand years in the blink of an eye
a swirling madness of change:
The Pangabans worship a god in the sky
and now predators stand where the others have died
the minimalistic decisions that alter the game
Evolution is coming, as I alter their world
and watch as they all die
(spoken)
the winning move, as always, had eluded me; while i focused on making the pangabans more adept to survive in their world, Inidar ensured that the gunja wave wouldn’t ever have enough, and would need to expand in order to survive; so that when they could see what was held on their small moon, they would wish only to consume
ALIEN CIVILIZA-TIONS!
