In this song, the remaining Ketrans try to decide which course of action to take following the genocide of their home world. Due to the rarity of their home planet's geology and the Ketran's symbiotic evolution with their home crystals, they contemplate genetic modification, terraforming, and other transformative techniques to fit themselves to a new world; however, most of the crew reject this idea, and argue that by changing themselves in such a manner, they essentially kill what is left of their species, and the essence of what makes them Ketran. And so, they seek a new world which meets their unique requirements. Voyaging from system to system, Toomin commands the remaining ketran people, with Menno as his second-in-command; the MCQ3 slowly morphs into the Searcher, a weaponized version of the ship that has adapted to the art of war following various encounters on their journey to find a new home.
